Disability Tax Credit (DTC) Ontario. The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is a federal non-refundable tax credit, which also includes a provincial supplement.  In Ontario, the provincial supplement is $9,001 for the 2022 tax year.   That means not only do you get the Federal Disability amount of $8,870, but also the provincial supplement of $9,001 if you resided in Ontario on December 31st, 2022, and are eligible for the Disability Tax Credit.

That’s for one year of the Disability Tax Credit.  Assuming you meet the eligibility criteria, you can go back ten calendar years to claim the disability tax credit in the years you may have previously missed it.  By going back ten years you can claim the Federal Disability amount and Ontario Disability Tax Credit supplement, which could result in a significant tax refund of over $16,000 (not including other supplements you could be eligible to receive.)

You do not need to be ‘disabled’ to qualify for the disability tax credit.  Any medical condition may qualify.
